Dual-Polarization and Dual-Band Conical-Beam Array Antenna Based on Dual-Mode Cross-Slotted Cylindrical Waveguide

Two designs of conical-beam array antennas are presented for different fifth-generation applications. They based on slotted cylindrical waveguides and a travelling-wave topology, where the waveguide is used to progressively excite cross-slot array. A total 384 cross-slots, formed by transversal longitudinal slots, grouped in rings eight equally-spaced cross-slots. The propagation TM 01 TE modes can provide dual polarization independent excitation respectively. Firstly, linearly-polarized antenna design 37-40 GHz band presented, conforming high-gain pattern. Secondly, similar working 5G dual-band 26-30 also presented. In this last case, slots designed radiate at two frequency bands (vertical polarization) (horizontal polarization), recently assigned very high-speed has been prototyped combining 3D-printing CNC milling techniques experimentally validate proposed providing high experimental performance. Directive tilted omnidirectional coverages with peak realized gains around 14 dBi have obtained, as well efficiency between 83% 90% both bands.
